Dear Lennie,
When I heard that you had passed on it was like someone dropped a truck on me. I guess I thought you'd always be here with us. You were bigger than life itself and I have so many old memories of time we spent together at Zildjian.
There are only about a million great stories about you and your involvement in so much within our industry. But you were also a king among all men. I don't ever remember you getting angry, just being passionate. You spoke so softly and when you did everyone listened. I remember your soothing voice could just mesmerize people and your sense of humor and laugh were infectious. When I was down you made me smile. When I was stupid you woke me up with words of wisdom in a way that made an impact. You knew exactly how to talk with anyonebecause you genuinely cared about people.
You and Armand together were a duo like no other. You knew each other so well and you knew what the other was going to do before it happened. Man that was some great stuff. I loved it when you guys said groovy and that's cool baby and check out that cat and of course dang, dang, ga dang.
And drummers, there is no greater legend amongst the professional drum community than you. I remember the way you supported those guys. You weren't just the cymbal guy you were their psychologist too. You loved them and they still love you. No one will fill your shoes.
It's moments like this that I realize I should have called you more, could have seen you more and thought you would never be gone. But I'm not sad because when you reached heaven I'm sure that the conversation went something like this:
God: Dimuzioseriously?
Lenny: Well God, I know it's not all roses, but I loved everyone I met and made a lot of people laugh.
God: I wasn't laughing
Lenny: did you let Armand in?
God: Of course, and he's hasn't stop playing that trumpet since.
Lenny: Well God, look at it this wayYou let me in and we'll get a band going, the lounge lizards. I hear you play a hell of a piano.
God: Hmmmm, so I could play piano?
Lenny: Oh, of course, that's a great idea.now remember that time Armand and Buddy and I were in a bar in New Orleans.

Lenny, there is so much to say about you and your amazing life. We are all going to miss you. I'd also like to take this moment to apologize to Therese for being a real goof-ball back in the 80's. I bet your children have become amazing adults and they must miss you very much. You were an influence on my life and I will always have fond memories of you. You will always be a legend.
