Dearest Naomi,
I am remembering the loving concern you shared with me, as Louis' health began to fail. What tender care and respect you demontrated in every aspect of his final months, supporting his dignity and stature that were the hallmarks of his life of loving his you, his family and community. Thank you, and may you know comfort.

Dear Naomi - Please accept my condolences with regard to Louis's passing and my apologies for missing the visitation and funeral. Louis was a wonderful man who always took the time to share his own experiences with me as I was learning my trade in the restaurant and bar industry. Over the years, we visited regularly at Foothills at The Hyatt, Gilligan's and Fleming's. You two seemed to be perfectly matched soul mates, and Louis often expressed to me the importance of having a good partner, how much you had brought to his life and how much you meant to him. Please know that my prayers are with you both. Darryl R. Wittle (Austin TX)

Dear Naomi, John and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of Louis. I am traveling this week and was able to see the obituary reading the Austin paper on line.
Louis was a very good man and one I consider a dear friend. I have known him through business for 30 or more years. He was honest and always forthright and a pleasure to do business with no matter what the issue.
I am truly sorry I have missed his service. I know how much he valued his church. It would have been an honor to be there with him. I, like many in Austin, will miss him. I am sorry for your loss.
Kindest Regards

Dear Naomi,
I just read that your precious husband has gone to be with Our Savior.
Knowing you have a wonderful support-group and unshakable faith I know you will fine. Losing someone we love is incredibly hard but in time your grief will lessen and your memories of Louie will give you so much solace.
Love always your cousin, Darlene

I remember Louis standing outside his bar talking on the telephone with a 25' cord so that he could hear the conversation. Good friend, all will miss him.

I was saddened to read of your loss this morning in the newspaper. My 1st husband and I attended UT and were regulars at Louie's from the fall of 1968 through the fall of 1969 when he graduated. Louis was the kindest dearest person to us and our friends, always friendly and so glad to see us with his wonderful smile. I saw him a couple of years ago at HEB off Far West and broke in to tears. We spoke, and he said that occasionally he had the experience of someone from those times recognizing and speaking to him (not necessarily with tears). He made the world a better place. With very kindest regards to all of his family. Melanie Walter-Mahoney

Louis was an extraordinary good friend and mentor. His compassion and strength in difficult times sustained me more than words can express. He was a fine, loving gentleman who will be gravely missed in years to come.

Louis was a great friend. i was there for the closing of Louis's bar (lost the t shirt). Louis and his brother(john) I think were customers at am. bank, I loaned them money to build apt. In san Marcos, and never had to call them about business. They were men of their word, usually based on a hand shake. See you on the next side my friend. Fred m minter

I had the pleasure of knowing Louis during the many afternoons and evenings I spent with the ultimate owner/barkeep/psychologist. What great memories for my generation.......Sinatra, Beta Bowl, Aces and Kings and the man himself. Condolences and prayers to the family of this great human being.

I knew Louie well around 1950, when I was an undergraduate at UT. He was tending bar at Pete's Around the Corner, just off Guadalupe,, and was so popular there with the patrons that he opened his own place, Louie's, at 18th and San Jacinto. He was everybody's friend, affable and very intelligent. Requiescat in pace, Louie.

I have heard once that we are often prepared yet never ready to say goodbye to our loved ones. It's clear from all the kind words from others that he was dearly loved. My thoughts go out to you and your family in this time of sadness.

You can always tell the caliber of the parents by the character of their children. Reading this obituary only confirms what I already knew from knowing John - Louis was a man that loved people and loved making them feel special. He invested in others and passed that skill on to John. We are so sorry for your loss.

He treated me the more kindly than any man in the neighborhood... I learned a great deal about explaining the world to young men by emulating him...
A true and honest gentleman.

Louis is an amazing man, that has taught us all so much. I know Louis is resting, rightfully so, with his lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Louis was a treasure and role model in every sense of the word. He will be missed, but his legacy will remain always present. May his memory be eternal.

I loved Louis like a father. We became great friends at St. Elias Church, and I always sought his advice when I was a member and eventual chair of the Mediterranean Festival and Church Council. I will always remember him fondly.
