Lucille Mary "Grandma Lucy, Aunt Lu, LuLu" Bell

Lucille Mary Vitale Bell, also known as Grandma Lucy, Aunt Lu, LuLu, passed away on May 9, 2024, just 4 days short of her 96th birthday in Tavernier, Florida. She was born on May 13, 1928, in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Lucy was a woman of many talents and a heart full of love. She was gentle, kind, sweet, smart, mischievous, nurturing, always optimistic and she touched the lives of all who knew her. Her eyes sparkled with joy, and her warm hugs and kind words brought comfort to many. Lucy had a passion for music, cooking, baking, sewing and quilting and most of all reading. She shared her love for these activities with her family, including providing music lessons to all four of her children and teaching them how to sew, quilt, cook and bake. She was fiercely independent, and insisted on taking care of herself, even turning to YouTube to fix things on her own.

In addition to her hobbies, Lucy dedicated her time to her community and family. She served as the PTA president at CSHS and you could always find her at the football field every Friday night volunteering at the concession stand. Lucy's legacy of giving back and nurturing others will be cherished by all who knew her.

Lucy is survived by her children Jessica (Dewey) Doolen, Jack Bell, Jennifer (Ross) Thomson, and Joan Bell; grandchildren Jason (Chrissy) Doolen, Amber Doolen, Aleck Bell, Connor Bell, Grant Bell, Ian Thomson, Emily Thomson, and Caitlyn Vastine; great-grandchildren Mason, Landon, Charly, and Violet; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and her beloved puppy Socks II. She was predeceased by her husband Joe Bell and her beloved older brothers Ralph (Sarah) Vitale and John (Joan) Vitale.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Lucy's memory. She was loved beyond words and intensely missed already. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
