Luther E "Bub" Spencer Jr.

Luther Eben Spencer, also known as Bub, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, in Pittsfield, Maine, at the age of 73. Born on January 15, 1950, in Bangor, Maine, Luther was a beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather.

Luther was a wonderful and caring man who would always go above and beyond to help others. He had a heart of gold and would gladly give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Luther's kind and selfless nature left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In his early years, Luther began his career cutting wood and eventually became a skilled tree arborist. He dedicated many years of service as a Deputy Sheriff with the Penobscot County Sheriff Department and the Holden Police Department. Later, Luther worked alongside his son at Spencer Construction, utilizing his expertise as an equipment mechanic.

Outside of work, Luther had a passion for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time in nature and was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it was repairing cars or equipment for others. Luther's dedication to his hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to connect with others who shared his love for the outdoors.

Luther will be deeply missed by his son, Bryan Spencer; grandson, Eben Spencer; daughter-in-law, Heather Spencer; daughter, Amy Cookson; son, Luther Phelan; brother, Mike Spencer, and his wife, Tammi Spencer; sister, Cindy Spencer; and his special nephew, Greg Spencer, and his wife, Jenny Spencer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Spencer, as well as his father, Luther E. Spencer Sr., and mother, Evelyn Spencer.

A celebration of Luther's life will be held on January 14th at the Holden Snowmobile Club, located at 263 Levenseller Rd, Holden, Maine 04429, from 1pm to 5pm. Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring Luther's memory. Food, drinks, and music will be provided, and if you would like to contribute your favorite dish, you are more than welcome to do so. Let us come together to celebrate Luther's life and the impact he had on all of us.
