McGRATH, Margaret G. Artist captured beauty of Maine coast – Not a fan of carrots. Margaret G. McGrath, 94, of Kennebunkport, ME and Naples, FL, left this life peacefully on August 28. She was a talented artist who found inspiration on the Maine coast. Her gallery at Goose Rocks Beach was best known for her oil paintings that captured everything from tranquil harbor scenes to the furious, hurricane-driven waves of the Atlantic. Margaret attended Regis College and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1946. She spent most of her teaching career at the Brooks Elementary School in Medford, MA. Margaret is survived by her sister, Theresa Boisvert of Newmarket, NH and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her companion, Agnes McCabe, her brothers, Francis and Joseph McGrath and sister, Agnes Stafford. Aunt Margy is fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews as someone who was kind, generous and a good listener. You could always count on her for advice, especially when it came to manners, whether you wanted it or not. Most of all, she had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to play cards, golf and tennis. A cocktail now and then, was encouraged. But, she was not a fan of carrots. A private service will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Newmarket, NH.
