Patricia Kucan Majernik Ducher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 19, 2025.
In loving memory of our dear mother, sister, grandmother, friend...

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the death of Patricia (Pat / Patti) Kucan Majernik Ducher, age 76, on April 5, 2025, in San Diego, California, and honor her memory.

Pat was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to the late Ann and Frank Kucan of Level Green, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Trafford High School in 1966 along with her first husband, John F. Majernik. At Trafford High, Patti will always be remembered as Kook, where she was a member of the Nurses Club, FHA, Future Teachers, the Pep Club, Junior Civics League, Spanish Club, the school yearbook Reflector, and where she served as a library aide. After high school, Pat went to McKeesport Hospital nursing program in 1969 and became a Registered Nurse, graduating at the top of her class.

After marriage, she relocated to Reynoldsburg, Ohio, where she and John started their family. She practiced nursing until 1992 and relied on these skills throughout her career when she became a sales executive working for PCS, Inc., McKesson, Eli Lilly, Alere, and Caremark, Inc. After her divorce, she relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona, and married First Lieutenant Ray Ducher in 2003. Pat retired from Caremark, Inc. in 2015. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband. She enjoyed her last years at the supportive independent living community Revel Scottsdale.

Pat loved being a mother and adored being a grandmother. She spent the last 25 years with her grandchildren in San Diego, Portland, and Honolulu for many Thanksgivings. She is remembered fondly for her soup, desserts, and smiles. Pat is survived by her brother Frank Kucan (Barbara), son Mark Majernik of San Diego and daughter Jennifer Huffstetler (Ryan) of Portland, Oregon along with her four grandchildren-Amanda Majernik, John Majernik, Rachel Huffstetler, and Marisa Huffstetler.
