ROBERT LEROY WINSHIP HODGDON - Robert Leroy Winship, 73, died unexpectedly and went home to be with his Lord July 17, 2008, at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Ludlow, the eldest son of six children to Walter and Helen (Clark) Winship. Bob was a hard working man, who became self-employ-ed at age 15 when he went to work in the woods. In 1970 he began his farming career. He and his young family moved to their current farm that has flourished and grown in size to this day, where the second generation has continued his legacy. Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley (Delong) Winship of Hodgdon; two children, Peter and his wife, Diane Winship, of Littleton and David and his wife, Lisa Winship, of Hodgdon; six grandchildren, Tessa, Matthew, Jessica, Hannah, Allison and Evan; four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Logan, Oakley and Alexis; sisters, Pauline Megquier of Danforth, Doris Hollensbee of New Jersey and Rose Winship of New York City; one brother, Thomas and his wife, Sandra, of Old Orchard Beach; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his par-ents; and one brother, George. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, with funeral services being held 1 p.m. Sunday at Military Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Burns officiating. Interment will be at Hodgdon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the City on the Hill project, care of Military Street Baptist Church, P.O. Tom & Sandra
Sorry to hear of your brothers passing. You may not remember me at all, but we went to church together in Presque Isle, at Full Gospel on Dudley St. back in the early 70's. You worked at Samsons at that time.
My name is Bernie Jordan.

I remember as a little boy meeting your loved one in Wytipitlock a few times at the old farm. My grandfather was J. Harley Winship in Brownville, his uncle. My late mother, Helen R. Winship Longden, spoke of him often to us.

May I express my deepest sympathy for you and yours. My prayers are for you now as he is in His hands and in good company.

To Shirley and Families:
I am deeply sorry for the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather. Bob gave me my first job when I was a teenager, and he was the first farmer I had ever worked for. He had a great sense of humor and seemed to make the days pass faster than they really did. I will miss him greatly. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Shirley, Peter, David and families,
We are so sorry for your loss. We will miss Bob stopping at the garage in the mornings, especially in the winter with his cup of coffee, standing by the wood stove, filling his pockets with heat for the day. Take care, you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
