Robert Zwicker

Robert Craig "Bob" Zwicker, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His loving wife of 40 years, Lorraine, was by his side. Bob was born on October 7, 1944, at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Edward C. Zwicker Jr. and Winifred Conner Zwicker.

Bob spent his early years on Edgemore Road in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia before his family moved to Clifton Heights in Delaware County and eventually settled on Childs Road in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania. It was from their home in Wyndmoor that Bob experienced his formative years. He attended Wyndmoor Elementary School and Hillcrest Junior High before graduating from Springfield Township High School in 1962. Following high school, he pursued higher education at Temple University.

In the 1960s, Bob enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as part of the 103rd Engineer Battalion of the 28th Division. He completed basic training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina and served with a communications company during his six months of active duty before returning to civilian life.

Bob began his professional career working alongside his father managing the Chestnut Hill Hotel in Philadelphia. During this time, he attended a state-licensed bartending school and earned a diploma in mixology. Later, he transitioned to a successful 30-year career in the insurance industry, holding positions with Reliant Insurance Group, Insurance Company of North America (INA), and CIGNA in Center City Philadelphia.

Bob's personal life was rich with love and dedication to his family and community. He shared a deep bond with his wife Lorraine and their two sons, Christopher and Zachary. A proud volunteer firefighter for the Wyndmoor Hose Company, Bob served as both a driver responding to emergencies and as financial secretary for the organization. He also played an active role in his sons' lives through his involvement with the Warrington Soccer Club and the "Men of La Salle," leaving a lasting impact on their upbringing.

Bob had a deep appreciation for nature and cherished time spent in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania-particularly in Laporte and Lake Mokoma. The seashore also held a special place in his heart, with fond memories of visits to Long Beach Island and Cape May, New Jersey. A particularly meaningful moment for Bob was celebrating his 80th birthday weekend at Ed and Joy's house on Lake Mokoma, where he rekindled treasured memories surrounded by loved ones.

In later years, Bob, Lorraine, and their sons lived happily in both South Carolina and North Carolina before returning to Pennsylvania in 2024 to be closer to family. Above all else, Bob's greatest joy was found in the love he shared with his family.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife Lorraine; his sons Christopher (Melissa) and Zachary (Aubrey); and his cherished grandchildren Hayley, Jackson, Hunter, Olivia, and Connor. He is also survived by his brother Edward (Muriel), sister Deborah (David), as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his brother George C. Zwicker.

In accordance with Bob's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, a small family gathering will take place to celebrate his life and scatter his remains in Sullivan County-a place that held deep meaning for him.
