SUSLOV, Tamara Copanov, MD Passed into eternal life surrounded by family on June 23, 2005. Dearly beloved wife of Paul Suslov, MD. Loving mother of Peter Wamsley of Santa Rosa, Sonja Wamsley Schluter, MD, of Sebastopol, John Suslov of Petaluma, and Kathryn Suslov of Santa Rosa; and doting grandmother of Nina Suslov. Dr. Suslov was 71 years old. Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia of White Russian parents and arriving in the United States in 1956 at age 21, Dr. Suslov received her medical degree from UCSF and founded the Eye Associates Medical Group. She was a talented and caring ophthalmologist who served her local community and beyond. In 1993, she founded Vision International Eye Missions, a non-profit foundation ded-icated to the prevention of blindness around the world. She was an organizational genius. Dr. Suslov was also known to provide free eye care to those in need locally. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed by her family as well as her Eye Associates family. Dr. Suslov's daughter, Dr. Schluter, plans to continue the work of the foundation, Vision International, and to continue her mother's legacy at the Eye Associates. Funeral Services were held at the Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Cathedral in San Francisco with burial at Serbian Cemetery in Colma. A Memorial Service celebration of Dr. Suslov's life and work will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2005 at 1:30 P.M. at the Sebastopol Veterans Building. All are invited. I am so sorry to learn of Doctor's passing. She was the most dedicated person I have ever come across. On a "Mother's Day" she came into the office to see my then husband Casey. May her soul rest in peace.
