BLUFFTON — Richard "Rick" M. Davies, 75, passed away after a brief illness on February 4, 2021 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. He was born April 3, 1945 in Bluffton to the late Richard and Vernice (McElroy) Davies.
Rick was a 1963 graduate of Bluffton High School. He had worked at the Little Red Barn in Bluffton and retired from the Lima Ford Engine Plant.
Rick spent his life devoted to his family. He lived at home with his parents, caring for them until their passing. Rick never got over losing his mother, who was his best friend. He never married but had nieces and nephews that he loved as if they were his own. Rick was their constant, always there for each of them.
He was proud of his home and loved having visitors. Rick had the natural ability to decorate any home he lived in and make it look like a show place. His fireplace mantle at Christmas belonged in a magazine.
Rick was a dog lover, but didn't get his first dog, Hazel, until he was in his sixties. After she passed, he adopted his current dog, Homer. Homer was Rick's biggest fan and was by his side day and night. Homer couldn't live without him, so is now at Rick's side in Heaven.
Rick is survived by a brother, Joe (Nancy) Davies of Bluffton; five nieces, Anna (Dave) Cheney of Bluffton, Gena Davies of Lakeland, Florida, Carla (Jeff) Ewing of Bluffton, Tonya (Todd) Frazier of Bluffton and Dana (Fouad Yakin) Davies of Tampa, Florida; two nephews, Mac (Cara) Davies of Lafayette and Jarod (Amira) Davies of Cleveland; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Morgan, who died January 28, 2021 and a sister-in-law, Patsy Davies who died May 1, 2020.
It was Rick's wishes to be cremated. There will be no visitation or services.

He was the best Uncle anyone could ask for. He was witty, funny, really hilarious, he was a fabulous decorator, he had a gift to make any place look like a show room. He would always do acts of kindness for family, friends and strangers. He was very generous. He took care of my grandparents when they were older. He was an amazing person. I love him and will miss him❤ Love you Uncle Ricky

Dear Davies family, Rick has been like a family member to all of us in the Balmer family. I can't tell you how much he will be missed by all of us. We have enjoyed his wit and humor, he love of story telling, his spirited tales of any event and the laughter would bubble over. He was a brother to Brice during the eighteen years of just him and we four girls. Then Bennett and Bradley were born and Brice was already at college. We enjoyed times with you entire family. Mom and Dad and
your parents were friends. It just seems that we have always been apart of the Davies family. Much love to all of you. It will be a large undertaking to close his home. My prayers and best wishes are with you. Know that we are so glad to have you are friends in the family.
