Ruby Hipps Hartsoe, 97, of Morganton, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021.
Born April 6, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Durant Hipps and Bertha Bridges Hipps. Mrs. Hartsoe was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and a long-time member of the Glen Alpine Women's Club. She worked as an executive assistant at GTE. Ruby loved her family and neighbors, and she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching birds.
Ruby is survived by her grandsons, Jamie Barnes and Michael S. Barnes (Katie); great-grandsons, Logan and Zach Barnes; great-granddaughters, Ryleigh, Madison, and Abigail Barnes; younger sister, Sandra Hipps Childs; a number of nieces and nephews; and her long-time caregivers, Pete Farris, Hilda Farris, and Angela Lail.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Hartsoe; daughter, Elaine Barnes; son-in-law, Jim Barnes; and 11 siblings.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Hopewell Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m., in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice; or a charity of one's choosing.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Amorem for their wonderful care of Ruby.
