Adam Villa Obituary

Lorain: Adam Villa Sr, 85, of Lorain, died Tuesday December 28, 2021 at Mercy Health in Lorain after a long illness with kidney disease.He was born July 24, 1936 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.Adam graduated from Lorain High School and then served with the US Army from 1959 to 1962. He worked at Moen for 30 years until their closure and then worked for First Student as a bus driver for 10 years retiring in 2010. Adam was a member of St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church where he regularly volunteered with the church carnival, the Mexican American Citizens Club and AMVETS Post #47, all in Lorain. He enjoyed woodworking, watching sports and was an avid fan of Ohio State and Cleveland sports teams. For many years, he coached Class F & Hot Stove baseball in Lorain.He is survived by his wife of 5 years Maria Villa (nee Medina); daughter Vanessa Villa of Lorain, sons: Adam Villa Jr and Mario Villa, both of Lorain, Anthony Zapata of New York, Dixon J Zapata of Minnesota and Veronica Zapata of Lorain; grandchildren: Dominic, Anita & Falicia Cruz, Gabriel Aponte, Justin Villa, Gabrielle Cereceres, Kayla, Emily, Marionna, Cylie and Mario Villa Jr and Jacob Calarco; great grandchildren: Xavier, Victoria, Elijah and Angelo. He was preceded in death by his first wife Consuelo “Chello” Villa (nee Palacios) on March 18, 2003; parents Salvador & Anita Villa (nee Pulido), sister Dolores and brothers Salvador “Moc” Villa and Oscar Villa. The family will receive friends Saturday January 1, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday January 3, 2022 at 11:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm at St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr, Lorain. The Rev Neil Walters, pastor, will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where AMVETS Post #32 of Elyria will conduct military honors. (Please note that the wake is on Saturday and the funeral mass on Monday. The family requests that all attendees wear masks.)Online condolences can be made at www.gluvna.net.
