Bob Hendrick, age 99 of Cherry Lane and formerly of Conway, died Sunday, February 5, 2017.
Mr. Hendrick was born in Conway, a son of the late Robert O'Neal and Minnie Cannon Hendrick. He was a member of Belin United Methodist church in Murrells Inlet and formerly a member of the First United Methodist Church in Conway. Mr. Hendrick was a graduate of Conway High School. He was predeceased by his wives, Elizabeth Andersen Hendrick and Elizabeth (Lib) Cherry Thomas Hendrick, his daughter, Jean Elizabeth Todd, and brothers, Samuel E. "Tubby" Hendrick and Hoyt L. Hendrick. Mr. Hendrick was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he was a Sergeant and was the recipient of a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He served on the Conway City Council for 20 years and was a former member of the Conway Kiwanis Club. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Carolina Pipeline Gas Company. He was the co-founder the Annual July 4th Murrells Inlet Boat Parade and Horry County Rescue Squad. Mr. Hendrick was a member and Master Mason of Conway Lodge #65 AFM and was a member and Jester of the Omar Shrine Temple.
Surviving are: two sons, Andy E. Hendrick (Judy) and Tony D. Hendrick (Janice), all of Conway; two stepsons, William G. Thomas, Jr. (Betsy) and Jesse "Dan" Thomas (Dara) all of Conway; one step-daughter, Joanne Thomas Anderson (Thurmond) of Spartanburg, SC, six grandchildren, Jill McClellan (Jerry), Shelley Hendrick (Jessie), Kellye Hendrick-Fitzpatrick (Jim), Kris Dawes (Chris), Lindsey Altman (Kent) and Neal Hendrick, four step-grandchildren, Blue and David Thomas, Scott Anderson and Cheri Anderson, seven great-grandchildren and his two special caregivers, Meade Dusenbury Altman and Teresa Stockton.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Conway, SC with Rev. Dr. Mike Alexander officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Lakeside Cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
