Allen Nutter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holman-Howe Funeral Homes Lebanon on Mar. 12, 2025.
Allen Wayne Nutter was born December 25, 1947 in Lebanon, Missouri to Thomas Charles and Colleen Moore Nutter. He departed this life early Wednesday morning, March 12, 2025, in Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri. He was seventy-seven years, two months and eighteen days of age.
Allen was raised in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy where he proudly served for twenty-one years. He had an exciting career with the Navy, beginning his service with Helo Squadron HA(L)3 in Vietnam, serving as a door gunner. Then he served as a flight engineer. He also flew in many high profile assignments. Upon his retirement with the Navy, he returned to his hometown and joined the Laclede County Sheriff’s Department as Sergeant Allen Nutter. He served as the DARE officer, traveling to area schools speaking to students on the dangers of illegal drugs, as well as alcohol and tobacco.
On February 2, 1983, Allen met his soul mate, Julie. Together they shared many wonderful memories while raising their family.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Colleen; his infant daughter, Lisa Nutter; and his siblings, Ronnie Moore, Linda Gromosky, Janet Robinson and Larry Nutter.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julie Nutter of the home; his son, Thomas Nutter and his wife Yvette of Bolivar, Missouri; his daughter, Tina Nutter of Bolivar, Missouri; two grandsons, Kenneth Nutter and his wife Taylor and Keith Nutter and his wife Kaylie, all of Bolivar; four great-granddaughters, Payton Nutter, Hadley Nutter, Hensley Nutter and Olivia Nutter; his mother-in-law, Jeanette Bye of the state of California; and three sisters-in-law, Jonette Smith and her husband Angus, Jenene Koegel of the state of Arizona and Joni Bye of the state of California; and other relatives and friends.
Allen was a lifetime member of the VFW
Post 4107 of Lebanon, Missouri and Shriner's organization with his home lodge being in Millington, Tennessee. He was also a member of American Legion Post 853 of Borrego Springs, California. These organizations were very special to him.
In his spare time, Allen enjoyed gardening, raising cows and travelling. He had two dogs, Suzi and Penny, which he loved.
Most of all, he looked forward to being with his grandsons and great-grandchildren. He liked watching his grandsons race modified cars.
We celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by an enduring commitment to service and a profound love for his family. His was a life that exemplified leadership, kindness and a zest for adventure that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Allen's memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of his family, friends and the many lives he touched.

Al was stationed in rosey rds PR and was friends with my hubby Andy and I. He was a good man and when I think of him I will smile for having him.
