Brian Fagan Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 3, 2023.
Brian Kevin Fagan passed away on January 30, 2023, at the age of 56, in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. At the time of his passing, he was battling cancer.
Kevin was born and raised in Jacksonville where he played several sports including football, baseball, and wrestling. Growing up he was a fixture at Normandy Athletic Association, and he graduated from Nathan B. Forrest High School. He earned an Associate in Arts degree from the Florida Community College of Jacksonville and Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Florida before he began his career as a teacher and coach. At UNF he was a proud member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, making friendships that have lasted a lifetime.
Kevin was a consummate coach and teacher and a friend to everyone he met. He taught at several schools around the Jacksonville area, most notably at Nease High School where he taught Biology and Physical Education. He was instrumental in starting the wrestling program at Nease, as well as winning several district titles as head baseball coach and state titles as the head boys golf coach. After a brief foray into the business world, he was brought to the Bolles School where he taught Drivers Education and coached football and wrestling. At the time of his death, he was teaching science at Tocoi Creek high school where he was very proud to coach the first boys golf team in the school's history. Kevin was very proud of all "his boys" that he coached over the years. He loved following them in their endeavors, whether or not they went on to play college or professional sports.
He was predeceased by his parents (Thomas and Anne Fagan) and his brother (Michael). He is survived by his wife (Jennie), his son (KJ), his stepson and daughter in law (Cody and Kaitlyn Berkner), his brothers and sisters in law (Thomas and Mary Fagan and Christopher and Mandy Fagan) and his father and mother in law (Ed and Sheila Tison).

I enjoyed my time with Kevin subbing for him and with him at Nease. My prayers are for Kevin and Jennie and family. I know the Nease family will be very supportive as they were when I lost family. I know Kevin joins Fred Cole in talking golf.
