DAVID JAY CLEVENGER, 42, died at 3:05 p.m. January 16, 2007, at St. Rita's Medical Center, following a short, but very courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 10, 1965, in Piqua, Ohio, to G. Jay Clevenger and Charlene Recker. His father and stepmother, Faye Clevenger, survive in Vaughnsville, Ohio. His mother and stepfather, Bill Recker, survive in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Clevenger was an assembler for Nissin Brake of Ohio, Findlay, Ohio. He was a member of American Legion Post 3 and AMVETS Post 21, both in Findlay, Ohio, and the Gomer Easy Riders 4-H Club. He was a 1983 graduate of Bath High School. He was an Army veteran, serving two years in Germany and two years in Texas. He was an outdoorsman. He loved playing chess, bowling and golfing. He remained a loyal fan to The Ohio State University Buckeyes. He was a loving son, brother and uncle. He will be dearly loved and missed by his parents. Survivors also include two sisters, Debra (Cliff) Miller, of Lima, Ohio, and Dawn Clevenger, of Eagle Lake, Florida; a stepbrother, James (Lisa) Recker, of Sandusky, Ohio; two stepsisters, Melissa Mowery and Heather (Scott) Raines, both of Lima, Ohio; a niece, Heather Clevenger, who was the apple of his eye; two nephews, Robbie Moore, of Harrod, Ohio, and Alex Moore, of Eagle Lake, Florida; and his dearest high school friends, Brian and Margaret Farler, of Cairo, Ohio. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeffrey A. Rollison will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, the auxiliaries at Lima Memorial Health System and St. Rita's Medical Center, or the American Cancer Society, Condolences may be expressed at www.chamberlainhuckeriede.com. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Cancer Care of West Central Ohio, to Dr. David Powell and to his nurses at LMHS and St. Rita's.
