David Quintana Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riverside Funeral Home - Santa Fe on Jan. 12, 2026.
David Atanacio Quintana, 78, of Santa Cruz, New Mexico, passed away on January 7, 2026. He was born on August 14, 1947 and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1967. David was preceded in death by his parents, Ricardo Sr. and Danielita Quintana, as well as his brother, Johnny Quintana.

He is survived by his children, Theresa, Anna, David, Ryan, and Kelsey; his loving siblings, Richard, Eliseo, Ross, Celina, Susie, and Vickie; as well as his half sister Patricia, and many nieces and nephews. David was also a father figure and held a special place in his heart for Alex R.

A proud veteran, David served his country in the Army. He loved the music of Roy Orbison and Luciano Pavarotti, enjoyed cooking, camping, exploring the mountains, and spent much of his life in Colorado. In his younger days, he was often seen with a camera, capturing memories, and in his later years, he delighted in hunting for vintage treasures and great finds. Most of all, David cherished time with his grandchildren, including his beloved step-grandchildren and creating many wonderful memories with family and friends who frequently joined him and his dog, Duke, for dinner and drinks on his back patio.

David sure had a gift for making friends wherever he went and will be missed by all who knew him.

I am heartbroken with Primo David passing, he was more than a primo but a Best Friend that I talked to every week. He was a Kind Spirit that believed in Helping and Feeding you when visiting him. He worked for Uncle Pete at The Valley Superette with Celina. He went to Vietnam and was Airborne Screaming Eagles and Proud To Be A War Veteran. When he lived in California, we would visit him on the weekends with Irene, Teresa and Anna Marie. I will miss our weekly phone calls and our yearly visit to New Mexico. Rest in Peace my Brother David, you will always be in my Heart till my last breath. He would Always Make Me Happy, Love You

Condolences to all my Primo's. I remember David as outgoing and always helping. I remember him visiting with my grandma Sara. Coming by to go to school with Choppy and Philip. I remember going to play Oklahoma they had at Santa Cruz High School. Him and Choppy had the leads. I remember going with my brother Joe to his dad's house to help them with the garden or to pick apples. Him and his smile will be missed.
