Lynn - Doris M. (Roy Squires) Barrasso, age 78, passed away in the presence of her family and friends on November 27 after a lengthy illness. Doris was born in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School and Chelsea Soldiers Home School of Nursing. The last 23 years of her career were spent working with disabled children in the Lynn public school system.
Doris always looked forward to spending time with her family and friends. Doris loved being a Nana to and playing with her granddaughter, Katherine. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing words with friends. Her faith allowed her to accept the difficult times in her life. Before her illness she enjoyed gardening, dining out and occasional trips to Foxwoods Casino.
She is survived by her devoted sons Joseph Squires and William Squires, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hamp, granddaughter, Katherine Squires, her siblings Leo Roy and Theresa Mahoney, stepchildren, Anthony Marino and his wife Rachelle, Ronnie Marino, Carla Burke and her son Jared, and many special relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert A Barrasso, parents, Leo Roy and Eva Roy Atkinson, her daughter Kellie Ann Squires, and her siblings Robert Roy, Bernice Faraci and Mary Roy.
She felt blessed and thankful for the wonderful care given by her doctors, MGH Staff, Lynn VNA, Encompass rehab and Kaplan Hospice House.
