Essie Anderson Obituary

Published by Forest Lawn - Covina Hills on Dec. 11, 2022.
Essie Lean Anderson, 83, passed away at her home in Victorville, CA on December 11, 2022. As she rests, she leaves three Sons & Daughter-in-laws, five Grandsons & two Granddaughters, twelve Brother & Sisters (6 living), and several Nephews, Nieces and extended family members. Essie Lean lived a fulfilling and eclectic life, one that began in Delhi, Louisiana on October 7, 1939. Her Parents, Herbert John & Mandy Coleman, moved their young family from Louisiana to Los Angeles, CA. Essie-Lean attended her early years of school in Los Angeles and after high school she met, and eventually married, James Edwin Anderson. Among the notable accomplishments Essie-Lean is recognized for, the ones that were closest to her heart were establishing and deepening a forty-five year partnership with James E. Anderson, together raising her three sons and witnessing their families grow and mature, and working for a little known company called GTE (now Verizon) and having the good fortune of retiring from the company. After retirement Essie-Lean, already a faithful servant in the ministry, went on to acquire a Masters of Divinity and Masters in Christian Education from the Golden Gate Theological Seminary and received her ordination in the Church. In her years of service she ministered under Pastor Curry at the Friendship Baptist Church in Yorba Linda, CA. Essie Lean and James traveled across the US with their sons each year, many of those trips occurred in a motor-home on vacation experiencing the country's well known sites and other trips spent visiting distant family members. As she and James settled into retirement their travel expanded and Essie Lean's included missionary work abroad. During her twilight years and after the loss of James, Essie Lean's focus became her family. With the responsibilities and obligations of supporting ministry causes and other educational areas behind her she became the focus of her sons and daughter-in-laws and grandchildren where she comfortably lived as the matriarch of the Anderson's until her passing.
