Helen Elaine Kandris Studebaker June 23, 1964 – April 10, 2025 God welcomed home Helen Elaine Kandris Studebaker on April 10, 2025, after 60 beautiful years of life, surrounded by love and grace. Her strength, style, and spirit touched countless lives, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Helen was known for her fierce loyalty to those she loved, her gentle heart, and her deep devotion to her patients. She carried a timeless sense of style, a sharp wit, and an honesty that was both refreshing and grounding. Her beauty-both inside and out-was striking, with a grace and presence that never faded. Often described as a spitfire and a force to be reckoned with, Helen lived with boldness, grace, and unapologetic authenticity. Her warmth, strength, and vibrant spirit made her unforgettable to all who knew her. A dedicated nurse for 38 years, Helen began her career in neuro intensive care at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She went on to serve as a preoperative and postoperative nurse at an orthopedic surgery center and later found joy in one of her favorite roles-serving as a school nurse for Richmond Community Schools. For the last ten years of her life, she worked as a medical ICU nurse at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis, where she found her work to be the most rewarding. She felt deeply honored to care for veterans and their families and poured her heart into every patient she served. Her excellence in care earned her multiple Daisy Awards and countless letters of gratitude from those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her daughter, Haely Studebaker Hunter, and her son-in-law, Quinten Hunter, whom she loved as a son; and her brothers, Nick (Julie) Kandris and John (Sharon) Kandris. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dimitri and Afroditi Kandris, and her cherished Doberman companion and best buddy, Gage. Visitation will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3500 W 106th Street in Carmel, Indiana, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Elkhorn Cemetery in Richmond, Indiana. A celebration of life will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond.
