Jack (Jackie) Lee Yawn, age 74, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, after an extended illness. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30P.M., Saturday, August 24, at Milan City Cemetery. Visitation is at 1:00P.M., at Vaughn Funeral Home.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Veda McAdams Yawn, and his brothers, ‘Sonny’ Roulain, Robert Yawn, David Yawn and Willie Yawn, and nephew Will Yawn and niece, Robin Yawn Cail.
Jack is survived by his wife of 28 years, Christine Brooks Yawn; sisters-in-law Phyllis Yawn and Sandy (Ed) Yawn Exley; children including Lois (Tricia) Reece; stepchildren Jennifer (Derek) Whaley, Kimberly (Michael) Carr and David Thompson; grandchildren including Tyson Reece, Austin Hancock, Ryan Hancock, Colton Whaley, Traveler Whaley, Peyton Carr, Chayce Whaley; great grandson Kyson Reece; nephews Chris Roulain, David (Sarah) Yawn; niece Shai (Dennis) Brown. A cousin, Mattie (Wendell) White also survives.
Jack grew up in Reidsville until the family moved to Jesup in 1962 when he was in the sixth grade. Jack was a 1968 graduate of Wayne County High School. Most of Jack’s working career was in the Atlanta area. The pallbearers are nephew Chris Roulain, great nephews Sam and Jeb Brown, grandsons Austin and Ryan Hancock and friend Andrew Laudat.
