James Alfred Walker

Memorial service for Mr. James Alfred "Pete" Walker will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 3:00pm at Highland Baptist Church, 1509 Arkansas Rd West Monroe, led by Rev. G. E. "Skip" Dean. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the church.
Mr. James Walker was born on February 17,1930 and passed from this life on April 21,2025 at the age of 95. In earlier years, James served as chairman of the Board of Deacons at Trinity Baptist Church in West Monroe, and more recently was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Monroe. He also served in the Louisiana National Guard from 1948-1951 and was a member of the Boilermakers Union. James was also owner of Walker Mattress & Upholstery Company, Walker Trailer Sales, Walker Mobile Homes, and American Transport. James loved dogs and horses. He took in any stray dog that came his way and took care of them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Susie Walker; spouse, Betty Walker; and siblings, Zelma Fay Walker, W. A. Walker, and Aubrey Ray Walker.
Those left to cherish his memories include his son, Steve Walker; son, Wayne Walker and wife Jan; daughter Dianne Walker; and their mother, Dorothy Walker; step-daughter, Shiela Johnson; step-daughter Sharon Wilson and husband Wayne; sister, Betty Mae Gates; grandson, Scott Lavoie and wife Heather; granddaughter, Melanie Crain and husband, Blake; granddaughter, Sarah Walker; great-grandchildren, Karley and Jamie Lavoie, and Katelyn Crain; step-grandchildren, Billy Wilson and wife Jenny, Courtney Yatzy and husband Zac, Tyler Wilson, and Callie Atchison; and four step great-grandchildren.
