Janette Kay Todd, known to her loved ones as Jan, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024, at the age of 84 in Plano, TX. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments.
She was born on May 12, 1939, in Schoolcraft, MI. Janette will be remembered as a kind and generous soul, a history keeper, a loving mother and a devoted wife. Janette's passion for education led her to a career as a school teacher and later as an office manager. She also returned to school earning her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at the age of 56.
Janette had a zest for life and was a voracious reader, always seeking knowledge and inspiration through books. Traveling was another one of her great passions, as she enjoyed visiting friends and family across the U.S. and creating cherished memories along the way.
Family was of utmost importance to Janette. She is survived by her sons, Jonathan Todd and Joshua Todd, her daughter-in-law Juli Todd, her granddaughter Makayla Todd, her granddaughter Chelsea Porter and her husband Will Porter, as well as her half-brother James Bowser. Janette was preceded in death by her husband John Russell Todd and her sister Delores Schreffler.
Janette found solace and strength in her faith. She was an active member of The Heartland Church, where she worshipped and found comfort in the community. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Janette's name to "The Legacy Offering" at The Heartland Church, 4020 Nazarene Drive, Carrollton, TX, 75010.
Janette leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to have known her. A private family service will be held to celebrate Janette's life at a later date.
