Krister Karl Axelsson Hard Af Segerstad

Krister Karl Axelsson Hård af Segerstad (Krister), age 76, of Newtown, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025, following a brief illness. He was born on August 18, 1948, in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of the late Karl Axel Bertelsson Hård af Segerstad and Ulla Helena Damén. He is survived by his husband of more than 46 years, Richard A. Vitti, MD, who was at his bedside at his passing.
Krister immigrated from Sweden to Philadelphia, PA in 1973 to work for John Wanamaker Stores in Center City as a systems analyst. Later, he joined IKEA North America as Manager of Product Requirements and Compliance, retiring in 2020. Krister was a graduate of the Norra Latin School of Stockholm and held an International MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics. He served honorably in the Swedish Cavalry as First Lieutenant, and in the Swedish Army Ranger Corps as Corporal.
He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Helena and Robert Joyce of McCall, ID, and sister Anna Ulrika Hård af Segerstad of Gotland, Sweden. Also surviving are three nieces: Ulrika Joyce Britton, Siri Karin Astroem, and Shannon Joyce Algert; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane Vitti and Ron Brookshire. Also surviving are several cousins, numerous long-time friends and former colleagues.
A viewing and memorial service will be held at Swartz-Givnish Funeral Home, 323 Washington Ave, Newtown, PA, 18940 on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 10 am to 12 noon followed by interment in Newtown Cemetery.
