Kyle Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heer Mortuaries & Crematory - Fort Morgan on Sep. 11, 2024.
Kyle John Scott, born April 21, 1972, tragically passed away on September 5, 2024, in an aerial accident during an agricultural flight in Northeastern Colorado. He was 52 years old. Kyle was the beloved husband of Jennifer Scott and devoted father to their two daughters, Piper and Skylar. He is also survived by his father, Dale Scott, his brother, Wade Scott (Gerri) and his sister, Mahli Lowder (Sam). He was preceded in death by his mother Janice.
Kyle was a true aviation pioneer and a significant figure in both agricultural aviation and aerial firefighting. He founded Scott Aviation in 2001in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Scott Aviation became known for providing excellent aerial agricultural services. In 2019, Kyle co-founded CO Fire Aviation, which specialized in aerial firefighting with Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) aircraft, and in 2020, he launched Gold Aero. Both companies played a pivotal role in wildfire suppression across several states, including Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, and Colorado. Not only was Kyle a contributor to the aviation industry as a whole, he utilized his skill by supporting his local communities when called upon; providing fire relief in local grass fires, duck drops, Easter egg drops, donating helicopter and plane rides for local fundraisers. He felt humbled, honored and fulfilled when he provided Angel Flights to those in need. Kyle was an Honorary Member of the Fort Morgan Fire Department since 2013 and Rural Board President for our Rural Fire Protection district.
His influence extended beyond his companies. Kyle was a dedicated member of the National Agricultural Aviation Association (NAAA) and the Colorado Agricultural Aviation Association (CAAA), passing through the chairs and serving as president. He was a strong advocate for safety, innovation, and best practices within the industry. Kyle also served as the President of the SEAT Operators Association, where he was recognized for his leadership and commitment to the industry's future.
Beyond his professional achievements, Kyle had a deep passion for the outdoors. He loved snowmobiling, hunting, and spending time with family and friends at their cabin in Wyoming. His enthusiasm for life and love for his family and friends were always at the forefront, and he was often found cheering on Piper and Skylar at their volleyball and basketball games (often earning a warning by the local Athletic Director) additionally supporting their barrel racing events. According to their daughters, he was their biggest fan and critic, always pushing them to learn and improve. Kyle and Jennifer celebrated 27 years of marriage and experienced countless moments of pure love, that were full of respect and loyalty. They showed each other unwavering support for one another over time. They loved doing life together, celebrating all they had accomplished and the wonderful, independent caring daughters they raised.
Kyle's sudden passing leaves an immense void, not only for his family and friends, but also in the aviation and firefighting communities. He will be remembered for his incredible contributions to the field, his love for adventure, and his devotion to his loved ones. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the countless contributions he made.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14th, at 1:00 PM at Bristol Field at Fort Morgan Municipal Airport, 23101 State Hwy 52 in Fort Morgan, CO.
Donations may be made to the Kyle Scott Memorial Fund at FMS Bank for scholarships in the aviation industry.

Seven years ago I called Scott Aviation because one of my third-grade students was fascinated by planes and flying. Kyle didn't know me or my student, but he graciously offered to meet with us. Then he went beyond our wildest expectations, taking my student and his big sister up in his plane for a flight around Fort Morgan. When they returned to the airport, Kyle gave my student a bag of goodies - Scott Aviation logo items, a model airplane, a book about flying, and more. My student still remembers Kyle's generosity.

I was driving south on hwy 52 by the airport and heard something outside of the passenger window of my service truck and I looked over to my right there was Kyle flying beside me about 10 feet off the ground, he just wanted to wave at me and say hi.
