Funeral services for Margie Lucille Smith of Climax Springs, Missouri formerly of Amsterdam, Missouri will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation prior to services 11 - 12 p.m. at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Scott Cemetery in Amsterdam, Missouri. Contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Margie Lucille Smith, age 87 of Climax Springs, Missouri died Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. She was born November 1, 1935 to Herbert Horace and Laura Bell Briscoe Briscoe in Butler, Missouri.
Margie, one of two daughters, grew up in Amsterdam, Missouri where she attended Miami School and was a 1954 graduate. Margie had lived most of her life in Amsterdam until moving to Climax Springs, Missouri with her daughter and son-in-law in 2011. She was employed as an office clerk for Bass Busters and later Johnson Fishing. Earlier she had been a bus driver for Miami school district for 12 years. In 1954 she married Robert D. Smith, to this union a son and daughter were born and later divorced in 1983.
Margie was described as patient, kind, shy and artistic. She never said a bad word about anyone. Margie enjoyed oil painting, doing word searches, watching TV and spending time with her niece, Candy, when she came to stay with her. She loved traveling, going to music shows with Jane and Juanita Dyer and taking her grandson to get donut holes every Saturday.
Margie is survived by a daughter, Cindy Carnnahan and husband Jack of Climax Springs, Missouri; four grandchildren, Lester Carnnahan and wife Becky of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Barbara Carnnahan of Climax Springs, Missouri, Carl Carnnahan and wife Michelle of Wichita, Kansas and Michael Carnnahan and wife Kristi of Climax Springs, Missouri; 8 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James "Jimmy" Smith; a great-granddaughter, Jillian Carnnahan; and her twin sister, Margaret Briscoe.
