It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael “Bert” Bertolone on October 4, 2024, at the age of 74. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Linda Marie Bertolone (née Veninshek), with whom he shared 39 beautiful years of marriage. He leaves behind his loving children, Selina Marie (Anthony), Michael Robert (Tania), and Jonathan Anthony, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Madeline Marie, Giada Rose, and Cameron Michael. Michael was the son of the late Tony and Marie Bertolone and brother to the late Joseph Bertolone (Carol) and Anthony (Darla).

Born and raised on the West Side of Cleveland, Ohio, Michael graduated from West Technical High School in 1968 and began his career as a lithographer. While working at his first printing company Michael met his future father in law Bob Veninshek who later introduced him to the love of his life and future wife Linda . They started dating in 1972 and were married on May 22, 1976.

He eventually went into sales, and transferred to the business end. Michael was a true salesman and was able to connect with anyone with his “Bertolone charm” and smile . He was very proud of his achievements, as he was the youngest branch manager for Besco. He was very proud to have learned the teachings and principles through the Dale Carnegie School of Business that he applied throughout his life.

After they were married, Michael and Linda settled into their first home, a sweet bungalow on Lincoln Drive in Parma, Ohio, and began their family with the birth of their first child Selina Marie, born in October of 1977. Shortly after they moved to their second home in South Hills, where they welcomed their first son, Michael Robert, born in June of 1979. They lived there for 7 years, created many wonderful memories, made lifelong friends and completed their family with the birth of their youngest son Jonathan Anthony in April of 1984. In June of 1986, after outgrowing the South Hills home, they made the move to their current and longest residence in Brecksville, Ohio

One of Michael's greatest passions in life was his appreciation for all kinds of music. He truly enjoyed connecting with people through music. Michael was an excellent percussionist who could get lost in the music while playing his drums. He enjoyed teaching family and friends his skills. He proudly played in 3 bands, the Superbs, the Smash Band and the Victorians. Michael had recently reconnected with his old bandmates from the band Smash and was looking forward to getting the group back together again.

Michael will always be remembered for his charm, sense of humor, generosity, and his easy going personality. He loved his family and was fiercely proud of his Sicilian & Italian heritage. He loved his classic homemade Italian dishes, Sunday spaghetti dinners surrounded by family was a cherished memory. Another favorite place to make memories together was the family cottage in Marblehead Ohio. He and his wife Linda welcomed many family and friends to spend time together for 3 decades celebrating holidays and lake life.

Michael was a fan of all Cleveland sports teams but especially the Cleveland Browns, where he was a season ticket holder for many decades. In addition to watching sports, he could never pass up watching the The Godfather Trilogy as well as the Sopranos, he felt a strong appreciation for the Italian customs.

As per Michael’s wishes the funeral service will be kept private. The family greatly appreciates all condolences and support during this difficult time. Michael was a man that was deeply loved. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. We have all been so blessed to have shared our life journey with him. Please continue to share stories of him to keep his memory alive.
