Born in Mobile, AL, Michael was a longtime resident of Carteret where he proudly served the community for 38 years as a police officer with the Carteret Police Department. Michael also served as State Delegate for the Carteret PBA Local #47 for many years and was a loving a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed and cherished.
Michael is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanne Materazzo; children, Michele Coppotelli and her husband Angelo, Robert Materazzo and his wife Rosanna; two grandchildren, Angelo John Coppotelli, V. and Nicola Coppotelli. Also surviving are his siblings, Lynda Corbett and her husband Al, Jennie Brizendine and her husband James and Richard Materazzo along with five nieces, two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin at 9:45am on Monday, May 2, 2022 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by a 10:30am Mass of Resurrection at St. James R.C. Church in Woodbridge. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 1pm to 5pm at the funeral home.
