MSgt. Richard Paul Stepp, 81, of North Augusta, SC, husband of the late Carolyn Ann Morris Stepp, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
Born in Union, SC, he was the son of the late Ray Dewey and Pauline Elizabeth Willard Stepp. A Vietnam Veteran, he proudly and with honor served his country in the United States Air Force, from which he retired following twenty years of service, earning the rank of Master Sergeant. His last duty station was at the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base before he made Aiken County, SC, his home in 1982.
Upon coming to the area, he furthered his education by earning his bachelor's from the University of South Carolina at Aiken. A successful businessman, he was the former owner and operator of One Stepp Packaging and Fixture.
A kind, caring, and giving man, he supported several organizations, such as the Shriner's Children's Hospital, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and various animal charities.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching the Braves and the Gamecocks.
Richard is loved and missed and will always be in the hearts of his children and their spouses, Angie and Paul Baldy, Paula and Richard Riddle and Allie Landrum; grandchildren, Drew Baldy and his wife, April, Zachary Baldy and his companion, Leann Andrews, Walker Baldy and his wife, Felicia Dismore-Baldy, Wes Riddle, Vivian Riddle and Lindsey Riddle, great-grandchildren, Alanna Baldy, Ainslie Polk, Eisley Baldy, Jace Polk, Nolan Baldy, Winter Baldy, Owen Baldy, J.J. Andrews, Finn Baldy and Evie Carolyn Baldy, a great-granddaughter, Zahra Baldy, a very special cousin, whom he loved as if she were a daughter, Michelle Schumpert and his beloved four-legged companion, Pixie.
Also preceding him in death was a son, Patrick Stepp, and a great-granddaughter, Andie McKee-Baldy.
The family will greet friends on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from noon until 1:45 at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Graveside Service with veterans' honors accorded by the United States Air Force Honor Guard will follow at 2 o'clock in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.

I was stationed with Sergeant Stepp at Seymour Johnson AFB 74´-78´ in Goldsboro, NC. I was 18 when I got there and he had a big impact on me. I learned a lot from him.

Great person.
