Robert Edward Dupree, Sr. "Happy Is He" 1932-2023
Robert Edward Dupree, Sr. of Jacksonville and St. Augustine passed away on June 9, 2023 at the almost age of 91. He was born on July 10, 1932 in Louisville, KY. Upon graduating from Robert E. Lee High School, he attended Jacksonville Jr. College and the University of Florida, graduating with honors. He retired from his CPA accounting firm at the age of 80. He was a lifetime member of Sertoma and past Gold Coat president of the Riverside Sertoma Club. Prior to moving to St. Augustine he was an active member of Glynlea Grace United Methodist, then became a member of First United Methodist of St. Augustine. He joined the Florida National Guard at the age of 17 and became the youngest Master Sergeant at 20.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing Bridge, and teaching his children and grandchildren Cribbage. He was an avid Florida Gator football fan. Most of all he loved family.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Omega; two sisters, Ruth Ann Bodenschatz of Plover, WI and Janet Locke of Pennsauken, NJ; two children, Debra Helman (Mike) of Pocatello, ID and Robert, Jr. (Diane) of St. Augustine; five grandchildren, Michael, Charles, Amy, Jonathan, and Emily; four great grandchildren, Braylee, Clinton, Alec and Ian; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Ray Dupree, Jr.
The family would like to thank Flagler Hospital, Community Hospice and Silver Creek Assisted Living for the care he received.
The family will be holding a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
