Robert W. Scheirer, 93, died surrounded by his caring and loving family, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, one day shy of his 94th birthday, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the widower of Luella A. (Miller) Scheirer, who died March 13, 2003. Born in Longswamp Township, Robert was a son of the late Lloyd and Florence A. (Dey) Scheirer. He was a member of Longswamp United Church of Christ.
Robert was employed as a textile machine mechanic for Royal Manufacturing at its Allentown and Alburtis locations for many years. Following Royal's closure, Robert worked for other local companies until his retirement in 1996.
Robert enjoyed attending public auctions, going to farmer's markets, listening to country music, tinkering in his garage, watching Nascar, cutting grass on his lawn tractor but, most important to him was spending time with his wife and family.
Robert is survived by two daughters: Roxanne M. (Scheirer), widow of Ronald K. Reimert, companion of Bill Truitt, Mertztown; Sheila G. (Scheirer), wife of Steven E. Fox, Fleetwood; a son: Scott R., husband of Jamie L. (Geist) Scheirer, Oley. In addition to his wife, Luella, and parents, Robert was predeceased by three sisters: Mae (Scheirer) Reinert; Betty (Scheirer) Bolinsky; and Gladys E. (Scheirer) Fogel; and a brother: Edward Scheirer.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Robert's life will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Longswamp United Church of Christ, 200 Clay Road, Mertztown, with The Reverend Kimberly Berenotto, officiating. Interment in Longswamp Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing Tuesday, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the church.
