Ru Zhen "Jean Chen" Wang

Ru Zhen Wang, also known to the community as "Jean Chen," born February 22, 1950, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025, in Fredericksburg, VA.
Born and raised in Shanghai, China, she immigrated to the United States in the late 1970s to build a better life-one dedicated to creating a future filled with opportunity, resilience, and success for herself and future generations.
Jean was renowned for her selfless generosity and unwavering kindness, which extended to both loved ones and strangers alike. Her devotion to her family was undeniable, as she would go to great lengths to support and care for anyone who crossed her path. She found her greatest joy in being "Nai Nai" to her beloved granddaughter, Athena, cherishing every moment spent with her.
Jean's love knew no bounds, leaving a lasting mark on the lives of everyone she touched. Beyond her deep commitment to family and friends, she also possessed a remarkable green thumb, with an innate talent for nurturing plants and making them flourish effortlessly. It goes without saying that her life made an immeasurable impact.
Jean is survived by her husband, Steve Chen; daughter Felicia Smith; granddaughter Athena Smith; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel.
