CHESHIRE
SCOTT J. O'CONNOR
"Loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle"
Scott J. O'Connor, 63, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023 at Saint Mary's Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of Kathleen (Hartmann) O'Connor for 34 years.
Scott was born November 15, 1960 in Waterbury, a son of Marianne (Zucca) O'Connor of Waterbury and the late Richard O'Connor. He was a graduate of Saints Peter and Paul Grammar School and Crosby High School Class of 1978. Many of Scott's fondest memories were made in his years as a police officer for the City of Waterbury. He served for 23 years, rose through the ranks, and ultimately retired as a Lieutenant in the Detective Bureau. After retiring from the police force, Scott worked at Kaman Aerospace in Middletown.
Scott was an avid fisherman, gardener, and culinary enthusiast. He loved to sing, cook for family and friends, and was known for his colorful storytelling. Those that knew him cherished his kindness, compassion, incredible sense of humor, and quick wit.
Besides Kathleen and his mother, Marianne, Scott leaves; his daughters, Reilly O'Connor and fiancé Michael MacNeil of Milton, MA and Shaun O'Connor of Arlington, Virginia; two brothers, Richard "Rick" O'Connor and his wife Eileen and Christopher O'Connor all of Waterbury; a nephew, Richard O'Connor and his wife Steffani; a niece, Megan O'Connor and her fiancé Nicolau Moreno Jr. all of Prospect; and great nieces and nephews, Quinn and Hudson O'Connor and Noah and Mya Moreno. He will also be deeply missed by the Hartmann family.

I’m ashamed that I missed the opportunity to show my respect to Scott and his family. He was one of my original FTO’s in Waterbury and his confidence and guidance working in the “streets” was an honor and privilege. My apologies for such late observance of his passing, and life.

"My sister & I were so saddened to learn of Scott's passing. We had the opportunity to meet Scott in 1982/83 when he worked in uniform at the newly opened RollerMagic. The whole young crowd respected him & of course all of us teenage girls adored him! At that time & as the yrs went on- as was the case-our mom often struggled. Whenever Scott was the responding officer he was beyond compassionate & understanding. He treated us & mom so well. RIP from The Twins Angela & Audra"

My very 1st memory of Scott is freshman year high school. We went to different schools, but I met him at a dance at my school and the minute I was introduced to him we hit it off immediately and all we did was laugh and joke all night. He was my dear friend ever since. My deepest sincerest sympathies.
