Scott R. Roeder, age 59, of Bancroft, WI, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.
A Celebration of Life Service for Scott will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
Scott was born September 13, 1964, in Wisconsin Rapids to Robert and Sharon (Lindgren) Roeder. He was a 1983 graduate of Lincoln High School. Scott managed and worked at the family cranberry marsh and also worked for several years at ComfortAire Heating and Cooling. On August 14, 1993, Scott married Elizabeth McHugh at Martin Luther Church in Oshkosh, WI.
Scott played and lettered in both football and basketball during his time at Lincoln High School. He was a Channel 7 All-Star and participated in many All-Star games. He was also an All-Conference star. Scott led the basketball team to their best record ever in Lincoln High School history during that time. Scott also set and achieved individual records for football during his time at Lincoln High School. He was inducted into the Lincoln High School Hall of Fame In September 2023. His collegiate accomplishments include being the most valuable freshmen on the Luther College basketball team. Scott played in the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament and transferred to UW Platteville to play for two years for coach Bo Ryan.
Scott had many interests, some of his favorites were, hunting, fishing, golfing, watching all sports on tv and building or fixing whatever needed to be repaired. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Roeder, children Anthony (Brooke) Eason, Calvyn (Alyssa Koren) Eason, grandchildren Ariya, Phoenix, Sophia and Logan, parents Robert and Sharon Roeder, siblings Geoffrey Roeder, Kate Carlson, in-laws Kevin McHugh, Michael (Mary Claire) McHugh, Daniel McHugh, nephews John McHugh, Jared McHugh, Trent Gilbert-Roeder, Conner (Kate) McHugh, Maxwell McHugh and is further survived by many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lila Dusterdeck, Palmer and Helen Roeder, Robert and Kathleen "Peachy" Lindgren, aunts Barbara Smith, Phyllis Roeder, In-laws Dennis and Sandra McHugh and sister-in-law Deb McHugh.
Memorials may be designated in Scott's name to a
charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Marshfield Oncology, Compassus Hospice and the family and friends that came to visit or left messages to Scott at the end of his journey.
