Spencer Dix Obituary
Spencer Paul Dix, age 16, of LaFayette, died suddenly at home on February 26. In one word, Spencer was extraordinary. Always offering his services to another, extremely athletic, and always smarter than what he let on. Spencer had a way of making you laugh unlike any others, and one of the greatest companions you could ever know. Spencer was a hard worker; he didn't complain, he would just simply get the job done. And he did it with a smile. He was always smiling, and fearless to any challenge, always willing to try new things. Spence was always a fun, happy kid, full of life and potential and we pray he will be remembered as such.
Surviving are his mother, Michelle A. (Weatherstone) Dix, and father, Richard P. Dix; three brothers, Collin A. Dix, Jonathan R. Dix, and Emmett F. Dix; grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins spread throughout several states.
Calling hours will be Friday, March 1 from 4 to 7 PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Ln, LaFayette, NY 13084. Funeral services will be privately held at a later date.

I don't know why I did this today??? I'm thinking of you, Spence, and missing you. Denial, that's all I have. This isn't real but as I scroll through the well-meaning words and photos, it all comes back and my heart is ripped out again. So amny people are missing you, however, we listen to the wind, the birds etc and we know you are close by. Keep watch over us, especially your parents and brothers as we need you.

there isn´t a day where i don´t think about you. spencer was the kind of person who always understood. he was gentle and sweet and would listen. being our can be so difficult. there were so many times in these last four years where i needed someone who understood, and nobody ever made me feel more important and heard than spencer did. i´ll live my life hoping that i can bring the same kind of comforting silence, understanding, and love to the people around me. there´s nobody like you, i love you

I got to know Spencer last year as he was one of my first players I got to coach in basketball. He was the hardest working kid, giving it his all at every moment. Never complained and did everything the right way. I´ll cherish his energy that he brought every day. Spencer brought a smile that was infectious to all! My prayers and thoughts are with him and the family.

Rich, Michelle, Collin, John and Emmett, our hearts ache for you all. There are no words. Please know we are out of town, but holding you close to our hearts and in prayer. We have so many memories, but one that stands out the most is Spencer sharing with our FCA at Christmas that " it´s not about presents, but about His presence." I think of that every year at Christmas time. Spencer was an amazing young man and he loved the Lord. . Mrs.Jackowski (Jennifer) and Dave, Taviot, Cassley and Reid.

Carol and I are just devastated by what has happened. We are just heartbroken. Our intentions were to come up to see you and your family during this very sad and emotional time. However, Carol has the Flu. So we won't be able to make it up. We are just torn up about not being able to join the family during this terrible time. But we didn't want to infect everyone. Spencer will be truly missed by many. Our deepest love to you and your family.

I only have lovely happy memories of Spence and that's where I'm choosing to focus my thoughts as I learn how to navigate a world without him. I look back at the good times and remind myself it's been a PRIVILEGE to have him in my life and to have been welcomed to his. He's so loved!
