Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMillan-Small Funeral Home & Crematory on Aug. 20, 2024.
Steven Jasper (age 49) was born November 3, 1974 in Roanoke, Va. and passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 at his home in Myrtle Beach, S. C.
Steven is predeceased by his grandparents, Fred W. Jasper, Sr. and Ethelyn R. Jasper, Oak Hill, W. Va. and James A. and Redempha L. Akers, Dunns, W. Va.
Steven is survived by his father, Fred W. Jasper, Jr. and stepmother Theresa I. Jasper, Myrtle Beach, S. C. and his mother, Veronica L. West and stepfather John W. West, Conway, S. C., Brother Fred W. Jasper, III (Shauna) and nephews Rosco and Ace, Los Angeles, CA., Stepsisters Angela H. Taylor (Jeff) Myrtle Beach, S. C. and Heather H. Rhodes (Stephen) Bel Aire, MD., Uncle Sam M. Jasper (Linda) Fayetteville, W. Va. and Aunt Susan E. Adams (Lanse), Carrollton, Va., Aunt Sadie Summers, New Castle, Va., Uncle James Carl Akers (Deborah), Beckley, W. Va., stepbrother Robert Howard West (Lisa), S. Charleston, W. Va., Shad Allen West (Amber), Tampa, FL., John Aaron West, Centerville, Va.
Steven was a graduate of Oak Hill High School, Oak Hill, W. Va., and Horry-Georgetown Technical College with an Associate Degree in Agriculture Technology/Golf Course Management. Steven worked in grounds maintenance at the Barefoot Resort & Golf Club, Myrtle Beach, S. C. and at the time of his death at the Grande Dunes Members Club also in Myrtle Beach, S. C. Steven was a loyal friend to many, had an easy smile and a gift for finding the humor in difficult situations or describing something mundane. He loved West Virginia University football and basketball, hunting, surf fishing, grilling steaks, golf, classic car shows, and above everything, his family. He was a sweet guy and had a big heart. He was very competitive with his older brother to a fault and would like everyone reading to know, for the record, he was taller, stronger, more handsome, better at basketball, shooting pool, pitching horseshoes and cornhole. He even beat him in table tennis once and never let his brother forget it. We all loved Steven and will miss him terribly. Special mention goes to his two feline companions, Stormie and Margo who are now in the good hands of Steven's special friend Andrea. Also, for all of Steven's Cobblestone neighbors and Member's Club grounds staff thank you for all the love and support you showed him. Charitable contributions may be made in Steven's memory to the Horry County Animal Care Center, 1923 Industrial Park Rd., Conway, S. C. 29526.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Steven at a future date.
