Stewart A. Peterson, age 70, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Sanford Health in Fargo ND surrounded by loved ones.
Stew was born at Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, NC to James and Junielle Peterson on January 17, 1954. He graduated from Fargo North High School, Class of 1972. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Stew was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1978. He attended North Dakota State University where he graduated with a BS degree. While attending college, he served in the Naval Reserves.
Stew was the owner of North Country Machinery and Manana and was still the active owner/president at the time of his death. Most recently he worked for the City of Fargo Parks and Rec.
Stew touched many in his life, too numerous to mention. Each person has their own memories. He was enthusiastic and enjoyed many activities including: flying, hunting, fishing, camping, socializing, pontooning, traveling, spending time with family and loved ones, chili cookoffs, bicycling, participating in Young Eagles Organization, Messiah Lutheran Boy Scouts which involved him in counseling as "Wilderness Stew", proud veteran, Commander of American Legion, NDSU football, wrestling, running cross country, involved with ultralight and Maddock Airport, Messiah Lutheran Apple Pie fundraiser, dancing, Super Bowl parties, holiday parties, sausage and jerky making, mowing lawns, snow plowing, educating on-farm machinery, smoking ribs and brisket, jokester and many other activities with so many important people in his life.
Stewart is survived by his daughters: Lindsey (Nick) Sydow, Sandra Peterson, grandchildren: Jazmyn, Maddyx, Selena, mother: Junielle Ohla, partner; Kathy Held, brothers: Kim (Jane) Peterson, Terry (Becky) Peterson, Marc (Janna) Peterson, sister; Lynn Peterson, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and uncle.
He was a kind-hearted man who loved people and would share his smile, laugh, skills, and his love with all.
