Richard Miller Obituary

Richard Lee "Dick" Miller

Heath - A funeral service celebrating the life of Richard Lee "Dick" Miller, age 75, of Heath, Ohio, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, at The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will follow in Licking Cemetery.

Dick passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2018 at his residence. He was born July 1, 1942 in Chatham, Ohio to the late Russell O. and Esther V. (Rine) Miller.

Dick was a pipefitter with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local #189 for over 50 years beginning his career in 1965. He was a member of the Newark Eagles - Aerie #387 and Buckeye Lake Eagles #2801.

As a life-long farmer, Dick was happiest when he was on a combine or a tractor out in the field. He also loved hunting and spending time with his favorite German Shepherds. Dick enjoyed feeding the ducks at his home who expected to be fed every day. If Dick was not quick enough to get them fed, the ducks would peck on his back door until satisfied.

Dick had a great sense of humor, could tell a good story and could fix just about anything. He was an avid NASCAR fan watching and attending many races, following his favorite driver, Kyle Bush. Most of all Dick loved his family and those closest to him and will be sadly missed.

He is survived by two daughters, Susan Lynne (Dennis) Lane and Rickie Lee (Jedidiah) McCanna; a son, Chip Miller; two brothers, Russ (Michelle) Miller and Bob Miller; grandchildren, Kelsey Lane and Mitchell Lane; very special friend and companion of fifteen years, Connie K. Kidwell and her children, Brittany (Nick) Williams, Steven (Brandi) Kidwell and Courtney Kidwell; and many nieces and nephews and close friends.

Friends and relatives may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, January 22, at The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath.

The Miller family requests those attending the visitation and the funeral service be dressed in casual attire.

So sorry to learn of Dick's passing. We were close neighbors for years. There were times he helped roundup our cattle or horses that somehow escaped the fence. He was a schoolmate and a friend that always smiled. Our prayers are with the family. Know that he will not be forgotten.

My family and Dicks family met 67 years ago. We were farmers and back in 1951 farmer helped each other and that is how we all became the best of friends. On Dicks 75th birthday party we really got into talking about our good days on the farm. Dick hasn't changed a bit to me he is still that cute, loving, sweet little boy who grew up into a good, hardworking man. Iam so happy to have known him all these years he is truly my friend and I will miss him very much. Love Vera Skidmore/ Gibson
