David Dickerson Obituary

Mr. David E. Dickerson, 71, of 5010 Green Oak Dr., died early Friday at Duke University Medical Center. Mr. Dickerson was born in Warren Co., the son of the late James and Annie Hudson Dickerson.
Mr. Dickerson graduated in 1947 from John Graham High School and was a member of the 1947 undefeated football team. He retired from Home Security Life after 32 years of service. Mr. Dickerson was a Chartered Life Underwriter. In 1986 he received the Underwriter of the Year Award from the Triangle Association of Life Underwriters. Mr. Dickerson was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mr. Dickerson is survived by his wife, Estelle Paschall Dickerson; three sons, Wayne Dickerson of Richmond, VA, Richard Dickerson and wife, Laura, and Steven Dickerson and wife, Shelia, all of Durham; a stepdaughter, Gloria Hall and husband, Tab, of Burlington; a stepson, Dr. Kenneth Hollingsworth and wife, Stacy, of Delaware; a sister, Katherine Mustian of Warrenton; a brother, Thomas Dickerson of Snow Hill, MD; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Asbury United Methodist Church with Dr. Kenneth Hall and Rev. Richard Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Warrenton, NC.
Casket bearers will be Jerry Dickerson, Jimmy Mustian, Monroe Mustian, Jerry O'Keeffe, Alva Terrell and Andrew Terrell. Honorary casket bearers will be members of the Downtown Durham Rotary Club.
Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Barbara H. Dickerson Scholarship Fund, c/o Marvin Reep Sunday School Class, Asbury United Methodist Church, 806 Clarendon St., Durham, NC 27705.
