Michael Dillon Obituary

Dillon, Michael Eugene
Michael Eugene Dillon, 54, of Greenville, South Carolina, husband of Gina Coassin Dillon, passed in peace on February 2, 2018.
Michael "Mike" was born on February 4, 1963, a son of the late Carl Eugene Dillon and his wife Dolores D'Agnese Dillon, of West Haven, Connecticut.
Michael grew up in Connecticut. He was a Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed Italian food, and kept a secret stash of Reese's in his desk drawer.
Possessing a passion for the outdoors, Michael enjoyed boating and fishing and enthusiastically shared this with his daughter Frances from a very early age.
For Michael, however, reeling in 'the big one' was more about connecting with his faith and spending time with his loved ones.
Gatherings with family and friends introduced opportunities for Michael to share his keen gift of humor with colorful impersonations and passionate storytelling, accenting references to everyday life.
Michael was blessed with a wonderful charisma that made him a strong natural leader in both his personal and professional life.
As a young man, he kept active in sports, while his studies at Central Connecticut State University guided him into the world of Aerospace and Manufacturing Engineering, for which he earned a B.S. degree in 1985.
Michael's career afforded him the opportunity to travel and reside in different areas of the country as well as abroad while serving companies such as Boeing, Gulf Stream, Lockheed Martin and GKN Aerospace.
Michael earned accolades and endorsements during his career, which spanned more than thirty years. Peers recognized his strength as a visionary leader with a caring nature, a determined team player with a high moral compass marked by integrity.
Michael was loved and admired by friends and colleagues alike. If anyone revealed a need in their personal or professional life, Michael would generously give his time and talents to facilitate a solution. He was a gentle and compassionate man, with boundless energy, a positive spirit and a very big heart.
His most recent contributions also reflected his noble sense of dedication to our troops. As a part of Team Patriot and Vets-Help.org, Michael dedicated time to reaching and empowering US veterans and their families.
The legacy he built which he was most proud of lies within his beloved wife and cherished daughter. He was a loving husband and father dedicated to learning Godly values and pouring high morals, sound advice, and encouragement into his loved ones.
Simply stated, Michael Eugene Dillon was a very good man who did much good in the world.
Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife, Gina, are his daughter Frances, his mother Dolores, his brother Scott Dillon of North Haven, CT, his mother-in-law Frances Coassin of West Haven, CT, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, four nieces and four nephews.
A memorial service will be planned; generous notice will be given to allow everyone the opportunity to attend.

Mike was the type of friend that was always there when needed. In the younger years of our profession, we traveled to many states together. Fishing was always a priority with us. So if we were not working 7/12's that week you would find us on the water. Tight lines for you my friend and be Forever young!

I will always remember Mike. He was such a positive influence to me. I've worked with Mike at several companies and always enjoyed working with him. Just before his passing, I had a strong urge to contact him. So, I did and I'm so glad that we talked to each other again. What a great guy ! I'll really miss him. I'll never forget him! I am so sorry to hear about this Gina & Frances. Mike did send me a picture of when you went to Universal studios together. Love Ya Mike !

Michael was a dear and trusted friend and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. He was a tireless worker and an incredibly giving man that the rest of the world would do well to emulate. I just found out and offer my sincere and deeply heartfelt condolences to the family, whom I would like to meet and be there together for a spell. You have dealt with so much as a family and come through it together. My heart goes out to you and I offer myself to help in whatever way we can.

Gina, Frances Mrs Dillon and Scott

I am so sorry for your loss. Michael and I were childhood friends. I will forever cherish growing up in our little piece of West Haven. What great memories of dirt bikes, kick the can, and Brennan Field. As one of the only girls, I never felt left out because Michael would always make sure that I was included. Just like my brothers, Michael and Scott were our best friends. As I read his obituary, it was no surprise that he grew into such a great man who was devoted to his family. I offer my condolences and heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your husband, father, son and brother

Michael may you find peace at last. Having you as an older brother made it a lot easier growing up without a father at a young age. The guidance and big heart was noted and helped develop both of us into the family men we have become. Rest in peace. Love always your brother Scott.

We express our sympathy to your families, Gina, Frances,
Coassin's and Dillon's.
