I was privileged to know Mr. Falgout only about a year before his passing. His devotion to his dear wife was expressed daily, as we greeted him and noted the cup of Starbuck's coffee he had brewed, placed in a plastic bag, then tied to his walker for delivery down a long hall to Mrs. Falgout. One day he shared that they were 73 years as man and wife. He demonstrated what love looks like in practice, day by day by simple acts of kindness and faithfulness. Peace to all family members and friends who will miss him.

Dear Mrs. Falgout,

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your wonderful husband. We really enjoyed having you for neighbors in Bellemeade (we are now here 31 years) ... admiring Mr. Falgout's beautiful garden and meticulous lawn. Our neighbor, A J Lawson, passed away a year ago ... I know they are now in heaven catching up on old times. Take care.

Sincerely,

Debbie and Mike Glinky

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Nolan Joseph Falgout our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Nolan. And to Nolan it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Army. Nolan, you are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Nolan's family and loved ones.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I loved having your parents as residents after Hurricane Katrina. Even though they had been through a rough time in their lives they always had a smile for everyone. May the happy memories make you smile, your friends and family give you strength and your faith give you peace.
