Scott Thomas Reddinger

Born 7/19/1961 - Died 12/23/2016, "Captain" Scott Reddinger, age 55, died at his home in New Orleans on December 23, 2016. Scott was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in Louisville, KY. He moved to New Orleans in 1979 to pursue his life-long dream of becoming a riverboat captain. Starting as a deckhand on the antique steamboat "Belle of Louisville," he worked his way up through the ranks with the New Orleans Steamboat Company and the New Orleans fireboat "Deluge," and spent the majority of his career as a tugboat captain with E.N. Bisso & Sons, Inc. "Captain" Scott was an accomplished chef who delighted in feeding friends and family, specializing in Louisiana delicacies, shrimp boils, pig roasts, and bar-b-que masterpieces. A truly generous and fiercely loyal friend with a kind heart and a wicked wit, his untimely passing is grieved by many. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Reddinger, and father Thomas Reddinger. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Christopher Reddinger and Laurie Larue Reddinger (nephews Brian Reddinger and Samuel Reddinger, niece Carrie Reddinger Hess); his sister and brother-in-law, Karen Reddinger Bel and Mark Bel (niece Juliet Bel); his sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne Reddinger Haddix and Ronald Haddix (niece Elizabeth Inmon and nephew James Inmon); and his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Reddinger Hamilton and Thomas Hamilton. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 28, at a private home in New Orleans. Friends are requested to contact his family for details.
