Apollonia "Pauline" Giulitto, age 97, of Ravenna, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Robinson Memorial Hospital.
She was born on October 27, 1910, in Bitritto, Italy, daughter of the late Pasquale and Rosa Santa (DiCiaula) DePalma. After being separated from her husband for 10 years because of World War II, Apollonia and her son were reunited with her husband Mike Giulitto in America in 1947. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and the Infant of Prague Society. Apollonia enjoyed gardening and cooking her home always smelled like an Italian restaurant. Most of all, she loved spending time with and taking care of her family, including feeding homemade pizzelles to Paula's dogs Shilo, Blue, and Rowdie.
Survivors include her son, Joseph (Jean) Giulitto of Kent; grandson, Michael A. (Carol) Giulitto of Kent; granddaughter, Paula C. (Larry Sutter) Giulitto of Bainbridge; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Emily Giulitto; and her brother, Michele DePalma of Bitritto, Italy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Giulitto on July 22, 2007; also preceded by her brothers, Donato and Paolo DePalma; and her sister, Grazzia DePalma.
Friends will be received Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Robinson Memorial Foundation or Robinson Memorial Visiting Nurse and Hospice, 6847 N. Chestnut St., Ravenna, OH 44266. The family wishes to thank Dr. Emmanuel Yanelli, Dr. Roger Tsai, their staffs, the nursing staff at Robinson, and Robinson Visiting Nurse and Hospice for all of their compassionate care.
