PEORIA - David Michael Woolley, 54, of Peoria passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in Clearwater Beach, Fla.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1958, in Trenton, Mich., to Richard Woolley and Yvonne Kerr. David grew up in Trenton, Mich., and Peoria. He graduated from Richwoods High School in Peoria in 1978. After high school, he graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute in West Des Moines, Iowa, in 1980.
He was employed by the city of Peoria as a heavy equipment, diesel mechanic. He retired in 2012 after 27 years of service.
David married Karen Myers in 1981 in Peoria. They were married for 28 years.
David attended Northwoods Community Church.
He loved the outdoors and particularly enjoyed fishing; camping at Oak Run; boating; bow hunting; riding his motorcycle with friends; automotive racing; restoring homes, automobiles and boats; cooking and spending time with his two daughters. He also received numerous awards in natural bodybuilding and served as a judge in bodybuilding competitions throughout the Midwest.
David was a good-hearted, hard-working man; a dependable friend; and a loving father. His charisma and contagious sense of humor made all who surrounded him smile. David will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
David was preceded in death by his father, Richard Woolley; and his brother, Darrell Woolley.
David is survived by his mother, Yvonne Kerr of Clearwater, Fla.; stepfather, Charles Kerr of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Dawnn (Doug) Keimig of Clearwater Beach, Fla., and Denise Woolley of Clearwater, Fla.; sister-in-law, Julie Woolley of Peoria; daughters, Brittany Lees of Peoria and Ashley Woolley of Chicago; nieces, Michelle Woolley of Peoria and Sarah Keimig and Katie Keimig of Clearwater Beach, Fla.; and nephews, Christopher Woolley of Peoria and Nicholas Kerr of Lakeland, Fla.
A memorial service will be held in celebration of David's life at Northwoods Community Church on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 2:30 p.m. The family will be greeting friends and relatives over refreshments immediately following the service in the church atrium.
