Connie Hess Obituary

Passed away on June 24, 2010 at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with her devoted husband, Herman, at her side. Born in Fullerton, Nebraska on August 15, 1926, she was the loving mother of three children and two step-children, as well as the incredible grandmother of seven and great grandmother of two. After Nebraska, Connie lived in Idaho, New Mexico, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Yucaipa, California before settling in Oakmont in 1993. She and Herman enjoyed traveling which started with their honeymoon cruise to Alaska and later visits to Africa, the Caribbean and Mexico, and several visits to Europe that included a river boat trip crossing the entire continent of Europe. She also enjoyed a cruise through the Panama Canal. Connie and her husband have been members of Presbyterian Church of the Roses serving actively as Deacons and as members of the Gifts & Bequests Committee. An important part of Connie's life was active membership in the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) for the past 42 years. Several times she held the office of President in several Chapters with membership in NE, ID, MO, PA, Southern CA and Chapter JO in Santa Rosa since 1993. She also served as Chairman of numerous committees. She was loved by all members and will be sorely missed. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Celebration of Life service on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of the Roses, 2500 Patio Court, Santa Rosa. Memorial donations may be made to P.E.O. Chapter JO International (in memory of Connie J. CONNIE WAS A WELCOMED ADDITION TO OUR HESS FAMI LY. SHE WAS A CLASSY "LADY" WITH A KIND AND UNDERSTANDING MANNER. WE REALLY ENJOYED THE TIMES WE SPENT TOGETHER EVEN THOUGH WE WERE THOUSANDS OF MILES APART. SHE IS NOW AT PEACE WITH HER HEAVENLY FATHER. WE SHALL MISS HER AND REMEMBER ALL THE GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS LADY. KEN AND SANDY HESS, BROTHER IN LAW AND SISTER IN LAW, MECHANICSBURG, PA.

Connie was a special friend, neighbor, and P.E.O. sister. She was a mentor to many and spent countless hours giving of her talents to help raise money for scholarships for women who wanted to re-enter college. I will miss her so much but she will live on in my heart and memory for as long as I live.
