William Zweck Obituary
William J. Zweck, a lifetime Liberty resident, passed away on Tuesday March 4, 2008 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus in Middletown, NY. He was 83.
The son of the late Jacob and Gertrude Porter Zweck, he was born August 31, 1924 in Liberty, NY.
He was the retired owner/operator of Arrowhead Supply and Bill's Amoco in Liberty.
A family statement reads: " He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was deeply loved and will be eternally missed. Pinochle was one of his loves, along with his quiet moments spent at Hunter Lake with loved ones and friends. He was an avid opera fan and loved fine music. He was quick-witted and will be remembered for his poetic recitations and his response with a song. He lives on in our hearts."
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gladys Smith Zweck at home; two sons, William R. Zweck of Gilbert, AZ and David B. Zweck and wife Bernadette of Woodridge; one daughter, Janet LeRoy and her companion, Jerry Rhyne of Liberty; one sister, Elizabeth Edwards of Liberty; five grandchildren: Judith Ingato, Owen, Amanda, Nicole and Jennifer Zweck; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Mounk Zweck and Alex Zweck. He was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.
Friends may call on Friday, March 7, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St., Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 105, Liberty, NY 12754, or Liberty Presbyterian Church, South Main St. Liberty, NY 12754.
Funeral arrangements are by Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc., 845-292-7160.

Our thoughts are with you... my memories of Bill are of him in his Amoco station. Going in there w/ my Dad (Fred) to get an ice cream from the "old fashioned" freezer! I will be forever grateful to Uncle Bill for not just being my Dad, Sheldon D. "Pickles" Zweck's uncle, but for being his friend. The guy Dad could always stop in and visit on West Street in Liberty, or in Zephyrhills, FL.
