William P.

LEAR, JR.

Lear, William P. Jr., 81, author and son of aviation pioneer, William P. Lear, Sr., passed away (of natural causes) December 14, 2009 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Bill, a resident of Port Orange, FL was born May 24, 1928 in Chicago, IL. He was a well-known pilot and the youngest (age17) to have flown the famous Lockheed P-38 WW-2 fighter aircraft in which he raced and performed air shows as a young man. Ex- USAF fighter pilot and later Vice-President of Lear, Inc., President of Learjet International, S.A., President of Executive Jet International, S.A., Swiss Companies; Bill lived and worked in Europe for 28- years. In his latter years he performed clandestine service for various U.S. agencies abroad. Author of his highly successful auto-bio, "FLY FAST<$>SIN BOLDLY, Flying, Spying and Surviving" and his recent book "FIX AMERICA IN 30 DAYS', he was a true patriot fighting our present governmental despotism to the end.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Madeline Lear, father, William P. Lear, Sr. and stepmother, Moya Olsen Lear. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; daughter, Saskia Lear Gem and her husband, Mark, of Luxembourg; sister, Patricia Lear of Reno; five grandchildren and his six pet birds.

A private Celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.

My Aunt (Nellie Hughes) worked for Bill Lear (Sr.) at the Lear Aircraft Corp back in the 1940s. I have wonderful home movies of Mr. Lear and my aunt as she was his private secretary. Upopn your request i can send you a copy of our home movies of Bill. Sincerely, Preston Howard.

It was a delightful privilage to meet Bill in Cleveland for the Society of Air Racing Historians "Gathering of Air Racing Legends" event. His presentation captivated all. And his wonderful personality made him a favorite of those who met him.
