May 4, 1939 - March 19, 2025
Edwin "Eddy" Murray, 85, of Roanoke, VA., passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
He was a member of Rosalind Hills Baptist Church and retired from the Roanoke City Fire Department and Kroger.
Eddy was active as a Mason and Shriner. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved spending time with family.
Eddy was preceded in death by his parents, W. Clyde and Irma Murray; and his brother, Bill Murray.
Surviving is his wife, Peggy Murray; his children, Tim (Renee) Murray, Tammy (Duane) Colwell, and Todd (Melissa) Murray; his grandchildren, Robert (Cindy) Colwell, Thomas (Dana) Colwell, Samuel (Alexandra) Colwell, Rebekah (Brandon) Ness, Micah Colwell, and Joshua and Matthew Murray; and his great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Kaleb, Patrick, Lucas, Elijah, Waylon, Penelope, Emmy and Berkley.
The family wishes to thank Barbara Van Sutphin and Rosalind Hills Baptist Church Meal Ministry for their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Oakey's South Chapel. The funeral Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Oakey's South Chapel with Pastor Duane Colwell officiating. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Condolences may be expressed at www.Oakeys.com.
