Dear Bob and Catherine:

We have so much love for the Pedersen family that we were shocked and grieved to hear of David's passing.

Your family is dear to us and you have successfully kept us updated on each one. Our pain is for you as parents in the temporary loss of a son. Your beautiful young son, David, is in the arms of a loving Heavenly Father. Please know of our love and prayers in your behalf and your entire family. We think of you often and the kindness and consideration you have always shown us. Both before our mission and during our mission, you both have reached out in innumerable ways to guide and lift. Our hearts literally reach out to you as parents and grandparents and brothers and sisters in the Gospel. Take great solace in the promises of the Savior. "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:" (John 11:25)

Our prayers will ascend to heaven that the Holy Spirit might give you strength and comfort for this great sorrow. We love you so much.

Your neighbors & friends,

Dearest sister & brother-in-'love'

(Bob and Catherine) -

I can't tell you how poignant and tender the exemplary funeral service and viewings for David, (my golden nephew), were today.

During the prayer concluding this morning's viewing, I had a special surprise that was fleeting but so comforting. It seemed like an assuring image of David came to my mind, resting on my eyelids. I smiled inwardly trying not to believe it while half-expecting a joking, yet broadly-grinning David from the past, to come to mind.

But it wasn't that way at all, I marvelled at his steady yet encompassing smile that intimated a more evolved & knowing David, who seemed to be emulating his assent & approval of the occasion.

When the prayer ended, I thought no more of it but marvelled, wondering if perhaps Heavenly Father's time is different from ours and what can be accomplished in His time.

The funeral and day was like none-other.

I was so proud & touched, as each of David's poised brothers & sisters stood and perceptively yet engagingly, opened their souls to us, the audience, letting us in on their most treasured feelings and memories....

The truths that were spoken were sweet & refreshing, spoken with true humility, while each shining eye testified of the Gospel truths and their joy that they were sealed to David, for all time & eternity.

Leaving this enthralling experience with an unusual family, we all couldn't help but have Enthusiasm for the future, David's and ours!

Life is truly a gift and if we're lucky, we make it a string of memorable moments like today - where a brother was honored by his unparalled brothers and sisters, inspired by unparalled parents.

All My Love, (lil' sis, Helen)

Dear Pedersen Family-

I don't know if you remember me but I have been friends with Dave since the third grade and I was devastated to hear of your loss. If there is one thing I remember about Dave, it is that he could make you laugh on a seconds notice. In fact, I still have a "License to Flirt" card that he gave me in the sixth grade with his big smiling face right on the front. His energy was infectious and he was truly a genuine friend. I spent many fun nights with our friends at your house and your entire family was always so loving and generous. Please know that you are in my prayers and that your sweet Dave will never be forgotten.

Sincerely, Katie Woodward (Clayson)

Dave,

I will never forget "better together" and how you taught me to shoot basketball. And that hug that just melts your body. I love you I love you I love you. I will see you again when the time is right, and we will sing our song. To his parents: you've raised an amazing man, one who, even in death has helped me and greatly affected my life. I am honored to have met him, and he still lives on in my memories, bringing smiles and laughter to my life. Be proud, you could not have raised someone better. You did well, and you gave someone as insignificant as me a better life by raising him as you did. The world was fortunate for the 26 years that Dave Pederson walked this earth. My big brown bear. I love you Dave

I am saddened by your loss and extend to you my deepest condolences.

From our years together at Cottonwood Elementary until I last saw him about a month and a half ago here in Holladay he has been one of the happiest individuals and has lived one of the fullest lives of any man I know.

Dave was a true friend, one that upon seeing me even after seven years immediately recognized me, called me by name and embraced me. I knew that our friendship was still fresh and strong in his heart.

You have lost a son, I have lost a dear friend, we both know he is in good hands and is bringing smiles to faces on the other side.

Jeff, Bob & Catherine, & the rest of the Pedersen family. I'm so sorry for the loss. I feel very lucky to have had a wonderful and meaningful conversation with David just three months ago, in which he expressed such great love and appreciation for his family. I hope that comfort can be found by knowing that he is in our loving Heavenly Father's arms, and that he touched many people's hearts while he was here. We love you all so much.

I want all of you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with the Pedersen Family. I feel like one of the family and I have always appreciated the love and support you have all shown me. I will hold dear to me the many basketball games on the Pedersen hoop, rounds of golf, NBA Jam and most of all the several talks I shared with David. His smile always lit up the room and he was always a delight to be around. There is nothing that can really be said at this time other than we love you and are thinking about you.

Bob and Cathy,

My heart was broken with the sad news of David's passing. When I told all the Missouri Pedersen cousins, the feeling was the same. We all enjoyed, some much, our times and moments with the fun loving sweet person, David. I know my boys will always remember the fun times with David at Camelot. I think they still carry bruises from playing basketball with David. I will always remember the many fun visits I had with David. I was in hopes he would come back to St. Louis to visit, in the near future. What a sweet loving boy that has been called home by our Heavenly Father. I join you in looking forward to that reunion with David in those eternal times. Please accept my loving support and condolences at this time. As you have always been there for me. please know I will always be there for you both and your family.

Loving regards, Gary

Dear Bob and Catherine, Gary reached me last night with your tragic news about David. Please accept my sincerest condolences and love in the difficult time for you and your family. In all the years I have known you, your family and children have been your first priority. I hope you may be sustained by your faith and the watchful care of the angels of the Lord as you grieve this great loss to each of you as parents and to your children. I can think of no words of comfort, and only ask that you allow me in spirit, to help you bear this sad burden. Please know how dear you are to each of us, how much we love and admire both of you for your good and welcoming. Thank you for all you have done for our children over the years. I will hold you especially in my heart Friday, the day of David's service, and pray for you each day. Most sincerely with love, Sharon

Dear Bob and Catherine,

I was looking at the newspaper on line and saw David's name. My stomach went into a knot and I said, "Oh, please don't let that be Bob and Catherine's son." Tears came to my eyes when I saw that it was. I am so sad for you. Don't be surprised if you find yourself looking heavenward and talking to him. He misses you, too. The "angels", as I dub them, are busy but also nearby. How we look forward to our reunions. My love to you.
