What a gracious, sweet man. Not only did I have the distinction of having Mr. Bowman as a teacher at Saints, but he also became a mentor to me as I became an English teacher. We talked a lot about teaching English to high school kids and how what we teach and the way we teach has changed over the years. Those conversations - the last one in the summer of '19 - meant, and still mean, a lot to me. I finally understood what he was trying to accomplish with me as a student nearly 50 years ago. I hope he hooks up with Hemingway, has a drink, does some fishing, and spends hours swapping stories.

Worthy Brother Bowman's voice will never be forgotten as he always expressed himself in louder tones, eventually getting the message to us that he was losing his hearing and we were doing a poor job of getting the message across at our K of C meetings. RIP Brother John, your book was great reading and we shared funny stories in the few years I knew you. Vivat Jesus!

John Bowman will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by our family, the Annicharico family. Our connections with Mr. Bowman are as parents of children who had him as a teacher and also as colleagues in the education profession in Ramona. Mr. Bowman was the ultimate professional as a teacher and a role model for many students who entered his classrooms. We respectfully remember his love of literature and his keen sense of humor. Our sincerest condolences to his family. Our family will remember him with fondness and gratitude to have met him along life's journey. Joe & Penny Annicharico

Mr. Bowman as he was affectionately addressed was a man of tough love to his students. Along with Mr. Ben Smith -teacher at St. Augustine High School-the two had a profound impact on my academic and personal life. Thank you Mr. Bowman for shaping and pushing me during my Junior and Senior years at St. Augustine High School. If you did not appear at a critical juncture in my high school development I would be performing acts not worthy of a Saints Man.
Hope to see you in heaven!
